William Nichols and Sadie Spooner teach blues dance basics in the third of the RCC Empowered Rhythms series. See how communication, consent, and respecting boundaries create a powerful connection between dancers!

Blues dance is a group of dances that originated in Black/African-American culture and developed alongside blues music. It is a style of dancing that can be partnered or solo and emphasizes improvisation, rhythm, and self expression.

For this introductory class, please wear comfortable clothing and shoes with some slide (you can certainly dance to blues in street shoes but having some slide will make it easier).

No partner required. Usually people rotate partners and everyone switches leading and following.

There is only one more Empowered Rhythms class this month!:

After each event, you are welcome to stay for the Livin' Large Dance Party ( https://www.madisondancelife.c... )!
